Jinx came to us from Denise Runion from Paradice Show Dogs. He is my heart dog. I just love this boy. He started his career in Feb 05. His 2nd day in the ring he took winners for 2 pts. He unfortunately swallowed a quarter shortly thereafter. The vets were able to fish it out through this mouth but in doing so they shaved his front leg for an IV. Jinx's coat is very slow growing so he was out of the ring for several months. His coat is quite lovely now and he is back to showing. He was entered at DVCCC in Fall of 06 and he won is class. I am looking forward to showing this lovely boy in the months to come

Recently some disturbing information has come to light regarding Jinx's parentage. There were rumors that Jinx's sire was sterile. The information came to light after his Breeder Denise Runion packed up her house placed about 20 dogs and moved to Fl and has basically gone underground. Refusing any attempts to contact her from several very upset puppy owners (for various reasons). I started going through some of the emails from the breeder that I had filed. I came across the one in which I originally inquired about a puppy from Denise. Her reply was that Cruela (Jinx's Dam) had been bred to Eli (not Jinx's sire of record) and were expecting the beginning of August (this is Jinx's litter). This might have been a slip of a person who has too many dogs except she said she bred Cruela to Eli 2 times and included a picture of Eli the father. While not conclusive it is damning for sure. So with the help of some friends Jinx's sire of record was located (he had been placed with the 20) and plans for collecting DNA were made. I sent for a DNA kit to have Jinx done. But all of our plans have been for naught. One of the other puppy owners from Jinx's litter has discovered our plans and has put a stop to them. There will be no DNA collected from the sire and sent to AKC. Sadly, the parentage of Eli has been called into question by AKC now. Several of his puppies have had their registrations put on hold. So it is very doubtful that Jinx's true parentage will ever be known for sure. I will not show or use him. He will remain my beloved pet. But this is lesson for us all. Never deal with anyone that you have not known for a long time. I knew this and did not follow my own advice. I will never do that again. I have sent in Jinx's DNA with a letter requesting that it be compared to Eli (who is on file). It may or may not be done as I cannot get Denise's signature on the required form. But at least AKC has the information and perhaps will use it. I will now concentrate solely on the line I have begun to establish. I also am planning on DNA testing all of my dogs so there will never be a question about my lines parentage.
November 2006 update on Jinx
. We have been informed by the other puppy owner that her independent DNA test has concluded that Paradice Time Travelier (Dorian) is not the sire of our puppies. Although the news was anything but welcomed it was almost a relief to know for sure that what we have suspected is indeed true. Now the search to find his true sire begins. We are in contact with AKC and their DNA dept. It is important to remember that this is no accident. Denise Runion and her mother Jean Dice (co-breeder) have done this knowing full well that Dorian was not the father. This is not the first of their dogs that are under suspicion. So it would seem that this is not an isolated incident. Through some investigating we have narrowed down our search for the true sire to 2 dogs. One, Eli is already on file with AKC, but because Denise will not come forward to sign a consent form it does not look promising. There was also another dog that was visiting Denise during the time that Cruela was bred and this dog's owner has agreed to help us and sign a consent form. So that comparison is already in motion. If you have a puppy from Paradice Show Dogs I would contact Denise and ask for a DNA test. If you are considering a puppy from Denise I would turn and run as fast away as you can. Several puppies owners that have paid for their puppies and the shipping have not received them. They are trying to locate Denise to get their puppies. These puppies are registered to the new owners. Denise has in effect stolen them. I believe the legal term is theft by deception. If you know where Denise or her mother are please contact me so I can forward the information to the victims. If you have been deceived by Denise Runion or Jean Dice please send a letter to AKC Case Management explaining the details. Denise still has a couple of supporters that are hiding her where abouts and may even have the stolen puppies. We have the DNA proof now to back up our story. They have Denise's word. Hope they realized the penalty for accepting stolen property.
I would also like to thank the other puppy owner who ran the DNA test for sharing the results with us. It took a lot of courage to do so as she had a lot more to lose having already finished
her puppy.

I finally heard back from AKC on the DNA testing that I sent in. Jinx's father according to DNA testing is....................... Ch Vahalla's Cookies N Creme O'Kamaji. This is wonderful news. Jinx's registration is also put on hold while AKC does further testing.

Two years since the first rumors started about Jinx and the final outcome of all this is Jinx has been given a
conditional registration. It breaks my heart that this wonderful boy will not be given the chance to prove himself in the ring or in breeding. I am left with few options, and I will be looking for a home for Jinx. If you are interested in a wonderful pet check out my "Available Page". There is a lesson to be learned in all this Always check out your breeder. Never take anything at face value. I did not take my own advice and I have paid for it. I allowed what I thought was friendship to cloud my better judgment. If I had done my homework and actually went to see Denise's kennel I would never have taken a puppy from her. Once I did see them it was too late. Do your research people. Pick your breeder and they will pick your puppy!!!!!
And as a footnote apparently Denise Runion has stayed undercover and no one has heard from her. A few of us hoped she would come forward and make things right with AKC so our dogs could be registered, but this has not happened. If she ever does surface and start breeding Cresteds again I know there are a couple of angry English ladies that would like to find her. See their stories at the Links below.
