Every Charming puppy that is born into my home is special to me and my family. I do not breed often so each puppy is important to my breeding program and whether he/she stays here or goes to a new home they are treated with the same care and attention from the moment of birth. Before birth actually.  I test everyone of my breeding dogs.  Not only are they Cerf'd every year but I do DNA testing for breed specific genetic disorders.  Patella's are tested.  Once a puppy is born the dew claws are removed (usually on the 2nd or 3rd day).  I also start Neurological Stimulation exercises on them from day 3 through day 16(Follow the link for information on this important stimulation).  In the meantime I weigh and handle each puppy every day.  They are also handled daily by every member of my household and any visitors that come.  I have an information form on each puppy to record important milestones like when their eyes open, when they walk, get their first teeth, etc.  A copy of this sheet goes with every puppy so you will have a record of when they achieved the milestones of their puppyhood.

All of the Charming puppies are weaned on goats milk, yogurt and raw ground chicken meat and bones.  As they develop their gut veggies and fruits are added along with eggs, shell and all.  By the time they leave here they are cutting their teeth on chicken wings and other types of meat.  Their guts have formed good bacteria and they are eliminating regularly.

I follo w Jean Dodd's vaccination protocol.  Once a Charming puppy has it's first shot(around 8 weeks) they can begin to go out and see the world.  Of course most of them have gone in the motorhome to shows long before this.  They are leash broken and taken out to be petted and admired by strangers regularly.  Sometimes they may go to puppy kindergarten and learn basic commands such as sit, down, and come.

Starting at about 3 weeks old I start grooming them.  Their face is shaved weekly so it becomes part of their life.  Although some Cresteds are hairless most have some or a lot of body hair.  The puffs need regular brushing to keep their coats from matting.

Once the puppies are about 8 weeks old they are moved down to the kennel room and live with the adults.  They go outside to potty with the adults and learn manners and proper doggy etiquette from the adults.  This is extremely important to puppies and should not be over looked.

When a puppy leaves here for it's new home it leaves with a health record, at least one shot, worm free, birth records, a toy the smells like home so they are not too lonely at first.  And most importantly, I am here to answer all your questions and help make the transition as painless as possible.

I guarantee against genetic diseases for one year.  Although there are no guarantees in life I will make it right.  For a copy of my contract please email me.
